Dr. Catherine Luib, D.C., L.Ac. San Diego Holistic Health Specialist Suggests You Should Live Life Fully

See My Who Is Dr. Catherine Luib, D.C., L.Ac. San Diego Holistic Health says “As a Chiropractor, I believe that the power of specific chiropractic adjustments restore normal nerve function and enhance our overall expression and quality of life.”

The nervous system is the source of all life expression. It is the conduit of transmission for all the activity of the nerves and brain, the master control system of the body. Well known chiropractor, Dr. Christopher Kent explains this understanding through his lectures by describing it in depth. He states, “Everything we experience is processed through our nervous system. If our nervous system is not functioning to its optimal level, our perception of the world is distorted and our ability to respond appropriately is compromised. This not only affects our physical health, but also our emotional and psychological function as well.”

Our nervous system is a pathway of vital energy that transmit these impulses of life and impulses of intelligence from the brain to the body and then back to the brain. If there is any disconnect between these pathways and the way in which these information are relayed, our ability to express life fully becomes affected. Chiropractic calls these impairments “Subluxations” which are often related to biomechanical constraints and misalignments of the spine, cranial and other joints throughout the body. What is important to know is that when joints develop abnormal motion due to the changes of structure, the very communication back to the brain is adversely affected.

“There is a vast difference between treating effects and adjusting the cause. “ – DD Palmer

The only effective way to address subluxations of the spine, cranial and other joints in the body is to adjust it. Why bother with pain killers? Go to the source of the problem and fix the problem directly. More often than not, a simple visit to the Chiropractor for an alignment is the best answer.

The profession of chiropractic is so unique in that it holds to it its own science, art and philosophy. The science of chiropractic is to locate, analyze and adjust the misaligned areas and by doing so, assisting the innate ability of the body to heal itself. This is where we see the optimal nerve system take its proper function to best serve the body.

The reality is this- when we free up the nerve system, it can then perform at its best for us. The result is an amazing yield of greater life expression and experiences for all levels of our very existence: mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, etc. THIS IS WHY chiropractic is not just for any aches and pains or for any injury from a motor vehicle accident. Chiropractic does not treat diseases, rather it augments the body’s natural ability to heal itself and function at its best. Chiropractic adjustments restore optimal performance as how we were made to be.

That said, chiropractic also recognizes all the extreme increases in stressors that have become a part of our everyday modern lifestyles. These stressors all range from physical, emotional and chemical.  Another important thing to remember is that everything that happens to us– physically, emotionally and chemically—imprints itself in our brains via the nervous system. Therefore, it makes much sense to be very aware of what we expose and surround ourselves to. We must practice prevention and wellness in all that we do, eat, drink, etc.

Do not be surprised to know that philosophical chiropractors also tend to awaken perspectives not only on nutrition, exercise and healthy habits but also on how we conceive, sustain pregnancy and give birth. Traditionally, chiropractors guide their patients and community to look at the most natural ways of living with an underlying respect for the natural design and function. Some chiropractors may even assist us to explore our interaction with others in our community and within our own selves. How we are able to express ourselves as living, loving human beings are very much directly interrelated with our nerve system function. It all comes back to that, how incredible.

“Medicine is the study of disease and what causes man to die. Chiropractic is the study of health and what causes man to live.” – BJ Palmer

“When in sickness, look to the spine first.” – Hippocrates

Dr Harry Heeder DC San Diego Chiropractor | Myths and Misconceptions About Chiropractic

San Diego Chiropractor, Dr Harry Heeder DC tells a story that clearly defines the impact of misconceptions in Chiropractic.

He says, “I had a 67 year old lady in the practice with advanced degenerative joint disease; spinal arthritis.

“When we looked at her x-ray and I showed her the degeneration, she said it was normal, after all, she was 67. I said, “This arthritic joint of yours is 67 years old, right?” She said “Yes.” I asked her how old the adjacent healthy joint was. She said, “Don’t be silly it’s 67 years old.” I pointed to another healthy one and asked, “How about this one?” She said, “You know that’s 67 years old too. What’s your point?”

“I said, “If all the joints are the same age and they are right next to each other, why is this damaged one considered normal to you?” She had no answer. While it is common that neglect leads to degeneration and arthritis, it is not normal. Normal is the healthy joint.”

In this case the misconception came about by believing that the disease was “normal” while healthy was the “abnormal”.  Much the same can be said about the myths surrounding chiropractic.

Myth 1: Once you go to the chiropractor you have to go forever.

Truth: The choice is always yours. We know that the better we maintain things the longer they will last and the better they will perform for us. Your spine and nervous system are no different. How long will you continue to eat healthy food, drink clean water and brush your teeth? Chiropractic is effective at eliminating common complaints and works even better as a proactive approach to health, just like any other healthy lifestyle habit you choose.

Myth 2: Chiropractic adjustments are scary and dangerous.

Truth: 1.There are no studies that show chiropractic care is unsafe.

2. We know that insurance companies (whether it’s health, home, auto, homeowners insurance) assign the highest insurance premiums to the riskiest endeavors. Chiropractors pay the lowest insurance premiums of any doctor because it is the safest healing art with no known negative side effects.

3. Western medicine is responsible for over 100,000 deaths per year just from side effects from prescribing the “right” drug to the “right” person for the “right” symptom at the “right” dosage. Chiropractic care is the safest and most conservative healing art we know.

When someone finds they do need a professional in chiropractic, the three most important things they should look for in that professional are:

First, make sure that the chiropractor you see specializes in the function of the nervous system.  It is well documented that just treating symptoms without addressing the underlying cause is usually a temporary solution that often simply makes you more comfortable while your health continues to deteriorate.  We know that you can feel good and still be unhealthy – think high blood pressure – so improving your function is a much better predictor of good health.

Second, make sure that the office has the most technically advanced equipment available that fully documents where the cause of your problem lay.  The use of the Neuroinfinti from Thought Technologies allows the doctor to precisely monitor your progress. According to the Neuroinfiniti research, readings of one’s internal stress level over time – in this case 12 minutes – gives an excellent window into the patient’s cortical [thinking] and limbic [emotional] function. However, the real value of the Stress Response Evaluation is that it not only measures how the patient responds to a stressor, but more importantly, it measures how quickly the patient recovers from the stressor. It is one’s ability to adapt to and recover from life’s stressors that is the true measure of healthy function. This technology is so advanced that it was endorsed by the International Olympic Committee.

Third, since you feel more comfortable knowing that the person doing the work on the deck behind your home or your automobile is not just a general repair person but specializes in the repairs you need, you want the same expertise in your doctor.  In addition to traditional chiropractic, look for advanced training in chiropractic pediatrics, pregnancy care, biofeedback and neurofeedback to help a variety of conditions in a variety of populations. Make sure whichever doctor you choose has spent the time and the money to further their education so you get the care you need.

San Diego Chiropractor Dr Devin Young, DC Clears the Misconception About Chiropractic Care

San Diego Chiropractor Dr Devin Young, specializing in Sports Injury is passionate about the common misconception that says if you are not hurt you do not have to see a chiropractor.

A good example of this misconception can be said in reference to an automobile and its oil changes. You don’t wait until the car is out of oil to change the oil; you change the oil in order to do preventive maintenance. It’s the same thing with your body; if you can keep from being hurt you will perform better. If you do get hurt your recovery will be much faster.

Many people using chiropractic care after injury recognize they are far better off by maintaining their health rather than waiting for it to fade.

A trip to the chiropractor every couple of weeks will keep their body in balance. Staying in alignment with the body in balance will give a greater return not only in their performance but in their overall health.

When you are looking for a chiropractor, one of the most important things to look for is their experience. You should also try to find referrals to the Doctor. Who has the doctor worked with? Look for someone who can vouch for the doctor and someone whose credibility you can rely on. If you are a runner, you will probably want the referral from another runner. If you’re a golfer, you want the referral to a chiropractor from another golfer.

Your personal relationship with the chiropractor is of vital importance. Meet with the doctor, sit down and talk to the doctor. You absolutely must feel comfortable with your doctor.

There are three questions that most people ask when they sit down with the chiropractor to review their case.

• What is going on with me?

• Can you help me?

• How long will it take?

The first thing your doctor will have to do is to understand what’s causing the problem. That understanding will come through a comprehensive exam, complete history and thorough examination taking the x-rays that need to be done, all of which will determine what the problem is and what the underlying cause of the problem actually is. The reason for the comprehensive exam is that many times problems and symptoms don’t match up. Understanding what’s actually causing the symptoms to manifest becomes incredibly important. Once the doctor has that information a determination can be made as to what he can or cannot do for you.

From that information the doctor can lay out a treatment plan that will estimate the length of time it will take for you to be helped.

Dr Jeanett Tapia Chiropractor Answers Pressing Questions about NUCCA

Dr Jeanett Tapia is one of only 250 Chiropractors who practice the NUCCA methods.  She specializes with one vertebra, the Atlas, the first bone at the top of the spine.  The treatment is radically different than the chiropractic you normally think of.  The treatment is precise, gentle and repeatable.

1. What is NUCCA?
In an article in The Small Business Trendsetters Magazine NUCCA was explained this way “The NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association) procedure is a unique form of upper cervical chiropractic care that frees the nervous system of interference by using a precise, non-invasive, gentle touch technique. Upper cervical refers to the very first bone in the spine.

Many patients who have been treated by traditional chiropractic methods and seeing no results will come to this type of treatment. Symptoms indicating this type of procedure can be all of the same ailments that bring a person to a chiropractor In the first place. Or the complaints can be more extreme such as migraines or vertigo. Patients with chronic illness or pain that cannot be explained will come to the NUCCA trained Chiropractor as well.”

2. How long until I am better?
True healing takes time. Healing is individual and there are many contributing factors. In general, the more personal responsibility the patient assumes in his healing process, the better the results. When dealing with spinal misalignment, the integrity of the musculature and ligaments has been compromised and adequate time is needed for these structures to heal in the aligned position. The longer your spine has been out of alignment, the more possible damage has occurred and therefore the more required healing time. Do not be concerned if you do not get instant relief.

3. How can the adjustment be so gentle and have such a global effect on my body?
Although the patient feels only a slight pressure behind their ear while being adjusted, there is adequate force being put into the neck. Using the first vertebra and the weight of the head to gain a biomechanical advantage, the doctor places their own body on a calculated angle to ensure the adjustment is specific to the patient’s individual misalignment. The force generated by the doctor is delivered to the patient in such a precise manner that many patients are surprised at how gentle the adjustment is.

4. Is it true that if you see a chiropractor once you have to go for the rest of your life?
The answer is no. There is a common misconception that once one begins seeing a chiropractor, they need to see one for the rest of their life. This could be due to the fact that the healing process requires time and multiple visits to the chiropractor may be indicated to stabilize the spine until the body knows how to hold the spine in an aligned position on its own. The longer your spine has been breaking down (which is usually much earlier than the initial onset of symptoms), the longer it will typically take to attain a stable alignment. Once people experience chiropractic, they often recognize the health benefits and choose a lifestyle that includes lifelong chiropractic care.

In that article in Small Business Trendsetters Dr. Tapia was quoted as saying “NUCCA is the most precise, effective and gentle technique in chiropractic and the NUCCA Upper Cervical Research Foundation continues to conduct research to further understand the relationship between the Atlas Subluxation Complex and conditions such as migraines. It is my honor to help people that have been to every specialist before me, and watch them transform through NUCCA care and see the hope in their eyes again.

Individuals can live with pain for long periods of time. Health is not just the absence of symptoms or disease. Health is having emotional, chemical and physical balance to be able to do the activities you enjoy and live your life to the fullest.”
